What goes on behind the operating theatre's doors?
Whee...I've finished another week of atachment! This week flew past real fast! Everyone is anticipating me to tell them what really happens in the OT. hahaha..I can't say much here..Confidentaility lah..haha! Later the hospital sue me..hehe..But all i can say is, it was really an eye-opener! I can describe what i saw to you in lay-man's terms..haha! Think of raspberry ice-cream, sausages, steak, BBQ meat...haha! And, for those who are wondering, no i did not faint okay..Haha!
I've got the chance to be an assistant scrub nurse for 1 case, manage to help around and be the circuating nurse, kpo-ing around the anaesthetist. (haha..this reminds me of Sila! Sila, don't kill me..She pronounce anae-sthe-tist as ana-testes! wahaha! I'm not bluffing, haha..All of us were laughing until we have stomachaches..Luckily she clarify with us on how to pronounce first before calling the anaesthetist! haha!)
From what we see on TV, and the real-case-scenerio hor, hmm..quite different loh..Drama is really drama..Mass media is so influential on us..If we don't know the real thing, we would really belief what they show us. But you all also don't imagine OT to be so scary lah..Blood does not splash out when the surgeons cut open the skin..haha! But it is really cold, alot of equipments, staff who are all gowned up might look quite "intimidating", because they are all in green, with cap, and mask, then can only see the eyes..HaHa..Well, must see from patient's point of view mah, their lives are in the hands of these people after they they go to "sleep", and there is always the fear of not waking up after they are being put to sleep. This is also attributed to the TV dramas. haha! However, i must still conclude that my 1 week of posting had been very enriching..I would seriously consider working there after graduation. =)
