We caught the sneak preview of the movie, lust, caution yesterday! The movie is officially open in cinemas TODAY! hehe..Avid fans of course must watch it before the rest of the people watch right? hahaha!
Anyway, the movie was not too bad..Ang Lee directed the movie very very well..The storyline was good, the scenes, background buildings, costumes, vehicles, everything has the ancient Shanghainese 1930s, 40s feel..However, i don't think everyone would appreciate this type of movie. Plus, it got a NC16 rating in Singapore, which means that almost 10mins is cut from the original film! but Lee Hom is so cute in the movie loh, the first scene he came out, we were giggling already. He's acting skills have increased tremendously, as compared to his past movies in the avenging fist, moonchild, and china strike force. Plus, his chinese is really perfect..with idioms coming out of his mouth like tap water, i had to look at the english subtitles for translation! haha..Thumbs up to Lee Hom!
Tang Wei, who is the female lead in the movie acted very well too, considering the fact that she is a newcomer to the big screen..She has left a very deep impression on me..I could really sympathize with her character in the movie..I'm predicting that she'll get a golden horse award..
Tony Leung, who acted as the baddie in the movie, i find was not mean enough..Although throughout the movie, his expression is stone cold, he came across to me as more of a SM loh..haha! Those who watch the movie, would know what he did..He also looks so old, with sunken eyes and cheeks..Poor thing..The last part of the movie showing him leaping into his car was damn hilarious too! haha..Although it wasn't meant to be a funny scene, i just couldn't help but burst out laughing..hehe..
Overall, i would rate the movie 4/5 stars..But a word of advice: To those who prefers to watch more action, you might find this movie a little too dull..The movie lasts 2 and a half hours.
