1 more week of fury before hols!
arrggh!! This is the most agonizing week...1st day of the week, and YOU have to make it horrible for me already...
Early in the morning, after my 1st intubation..Speaking of intubation, let me side track a bit..

I had a very scary experience..my pt had no front teeth, except for 1 very shaky one at the upper left side, luckily for us we explained to the pt throughly about the risk of dental injury, and that the tooth may fall out..Because, it really did! haha..free extraction for the pt..But i was really scared la..Immediately after intubation, we saw some blood on that tooth, then while dr was taping the tube down, i saw that the tooth was almost out, like i could already see the root! So, i kind of exclaimed, and i wanted to catch hold of the tooth, but i was late by 1 sec! The tooth dropped into his windpipe! Immediately, i dished out my magill's forceps, and together with the laryngoscope, luckily our dear anaesthetist managed to take it out..A HUGE sigh of relief from all of us..hahaha..And yes, i returned the tooth to my pt so that he can put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy..hehe..

Ok, after the case is settled, and the operation began, i went to take a look at my neighbours to see who i could relief for break first..So angie told me she was going to give a lecture to the new gals, so i helped to keep a look out in her theatre, and at the same time i went to get more magills forceps for my theatre..As i was leaving the storeroom, my colleague told me THAT woman was looking for me..A second later, we heard the intercom, "Staff nurse Lee to theatre 9!" Silly me was thinking that my anaesthetists needed help, or my pt turned bad or something..So i rushed back in..But the operation was going peacefully.. Then, i saw HER, and i went up to her, "Sister you are looking for me?" And she replied in a not very nice tone, "Yes, where have you been?" So i told her i was in ot 7. And she said, "Ok, fine. But next time you want to go ot 7, 8, 12, whatever can you let us know first, so that we will know where we can look for you if we need you. You don't like it when pple nitercom for you right? Now, who is going to relieve the girl in ot 10?" since she has already put it this way, what more can i say except, "ok me..but i have to relieve angie too."

i know certain of my seniors would "disappear" as soon as they have settled the pt, but i am not like that loh..she doesn't know me, she is not my manager, so why must she control me, and i have to report her everywhere i go? why must she control who goes for break first or second? haiz, i will be around most of the time..if you intercom for me i would appear at first hand, i volunteer to help them fetch pts even when i have to clear the theatre, i take minimum breaks so that i don't have to trouble pple..i am not so clever to be able to skive during work loh..sometimes i wish i can just be irresponsible, and not care for once..and just disappear into thin space..

People only know how to gossip about you when you don't do work, are lazy, did something wrong, take long breaks, get MC, blah blah..But they don't praise people who are hardworking, who make the effort to stay back and finish their work, who come extra early to set up the theatre, who take short breaks, who drag themselves to work even though they are sick so that the theatre is not shorthanded..I guess its a sad, and cruel world. Humans..Do we really deserve to be on this planet?? Why don't all of us go extinct?
